Uganda U-20 National Football Team, Uganda Hippos were pitted in Group B ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U-20 qualifiers for the CECAFA Zone.
With CECAFA nine teams (9) set to be participating Uganda is in the same group with South Sudan, Burundi and Ethiopia.
Group A will hold hosts Tanzania, Sudan, Rwanda, Djibouti and Kenya.
The tournament is slated for October 6-20th, 2024 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
According to Cafonline, apart from Somalia and Eritrea, the Member Associations confirmed participation of their teams include;
“We are going to conducted the draw in Dar es Salaam with five teams in one group and four in the other group. “
“The best two teams will qualify to represent the Zone at the AFCON U-20 tournament to be played next year,” Yusuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Manager highlighted.
Uganda beat South Sudan 2-1 at the last AFCON U-20 Zonal qualifiers 2022, in the final held at Sudan’s Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman, Khartoum.
