Uganda Boxing Champions League: Ssemuddu takes over Zebra Jr

NCS Lugogo arena was on fire as Muzamir Ssemuddu alias Mr Take Over beat Isaac Ssenyange Jr aka Zebra Jr 4-3 in a closely contested light middle weight Uganda Boxing Champions League, Week 15 fight on Saturday.

With different whispering their thoughts of who might take home the win, Ssemuddu who was in the Red corner made a grand entrance into the Arena led by Ugandan dancehall artiste Zex Bilangilangi.

While on thé other side, Isaac Ssenyange Jr who had the largest chuck of fans in the Arena was led by Tanzanian singer T.I.D.

With less time from talk and more for action both boxers were oozing desire to box off with an intention to prove who is better from either side.

After a minutes, Zebra started strong with a couple of counter punches onto Ssemuddu who tried to throw a number punches but some in vain as most of them caught the air.

The night got better for Zebra as it got from bad to worse for Ssemuddu as his strategy yielded no fruit in the second round however in the third the Kololo based boxer recovered well.

Ssemuddu got back into the game, threw the same punches but in the right spots of Zebra something he did continuously in the fourth and fifth round.

After all the action amidst a long wait, the judges released results which were announced to the massés in favour of the Red Corner  filled by Ssemuddu who had a 4-3 win against Isaac Zebra out of all the five rounds.

After the results were releaved sites of denial were cited in Zebra’s fans with some trying to exchange words with those from Ssemuddu’s side in protest, replicating shades of 2022 Uganda Boxing Champions League final at Akamwesi, Kyebando.

In the other fights on the day, Ochama Destiny of Sparks Boxing Club beat Lukanga’s Mwagazi Ivan by a 5-0 Uniamous decision in the Featherweight 57 kgs Junior category.

In the Minimum 48 Kgs youth category, KCCA ‘s Mukiibi Rodger did not complete his fight with Lukomaji Mark after the Referee Stopped the Contest in Round two since Rodger couldn’t continue.

For the Bantam 54Kgs, Nkurunziza Brian of Kololo Boxing Club beat Matovu Shafick 4-1 as Matovu Livingstone from East Coast BC had his fight against Serwano Davis stopped in round 1 with the technical team ruling that he couldn’t continue and therefore gave it to Davis.

From the Ladies, GULU’s Lagum Rebecca boxed COBAP’s Muduwa Brenda 4-1 to win the Light Fly 50Kgs Youth category.

Lastly in the Men’s Fly 51kgs Elite, both Mawanda Shafick (Kalinabiri) and Kasozi Frank ( Nakawa) won their fight (5-0), 5-2 against Abdulhakim Habib and Gayita Ronald respectively.

With the competition edging closer to its Climax on the 26th December 2023, it continues attract more and more fans into the Arena.

Week 16 will return on Saturday 2nd December 2023 at the NCS Lugogo Arena.
