Hosts Crested Cranes will play Burundi women in the CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship final at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru at 3pm.

Uganda will be seeking for their first ever CECAFA Title as the final will be between the CECAFA region’s only two representatives at the AFWCON to be played in Morocco next month.

With Shamirah Nalugya(2-0 -2019, 4-1,Njeru-2022, and Fazila Ikwaput(1-0,Dar es Salaam-2016 and 4-1,Njeru-2022) facing their best sides, both having scored twice against this Burundi side in two different tournaments, the Cranes will look to the dual to make a difference.

In the last meeting in the group stage Uganda won 4-1 to finish top of Group A with goals from Ikwaput, Shamirah Nalugya and Sandra Nabweteme who scored a brace on the day.

Uganda beat Ethiopia in extra time of the semi final 1-0 in order to advance to the final courtesy of a Ikwaput volley in the 114th minute while Burundi came from behind to stun Tanzania 2-1 in the semi final with goals from Asha Djafari and Sandrine Niyonkuru.

With worries from alot of people because of Aisha Nantongo who was stretchered off during the semi final, Lutalo came out to  confirm that she’s now fit and ready to play in the final just like the rest of the players.

On the side of the leading scorers;

Tanzania’s Opa Clement Tukumbuke remains the tournament’s leading scorer with six goals and she will be playing in third place play off.
