SKLPS first edged Centurion by 15 runs in the morning before returning in the afternoon to complete a four wicket win.
The man Centurion could not solve was Dinesh Manji Vekariya. The SKLPS all rounder claimed three wickets in each game, earning Player of the Match honours twice and turning a good opening day into a personal statement.
SKLPS posted 125/6 in the morning, with Nandkishor Patel making 32. Centurion, who missed key players Brian Masaba and Arnold Tembo, reached only 110/8 despite Andrew Nyumba’s 23 and Jackson Asiku’s 20.
Vekariya then struck again in the afternoon as Centurion folded for 100 in 19 overs. Nyumba top-scored with 24, while Tonny Opiyo made 20.
SKLPS needed 17.5 overs to get home at 104/6, with Vishal Bandheri unbeaten on 25. It was a day Centurion will want to forget and one SKLPS will remember.
Elsewhere, GM Sugar also swept JACC, winning by 56 runs in the morning before cruising to an eight wicket victory in the afternoon.
Simon Ssesazi set the tone with a 63 run knock as GM Sugar made 147/8. JACC could only muster 91/6, despite an unbeaten 51 from Aaron Kusasira.
The second game was even more one sided. JACC collapsed for 54 in 18.1 overs before GM Sugar raced to 55/2 in 7.3 overs. Rahul Kumar Pravinbhai Patel took three wickets and claimed the Player of the Match award.
At Florida Cricket Ground, Mukono Warriors CC delivered the biggest statement of the day, twice thrashing Africa CC.
The Warriors won the morning game by 99 runs after posting 143/8 and bowling Africa out for 44.
They then turned the afternoon into a rout. Mukono Warriors piled up 211/7, led by Harish Anandhan’s 71, before Africa CC collapsed to 20 all out.
Geoffrey Kakaire took 4/1 to cap a brutal 191-run victory and another Player of the Match performance.
