Islamic University In Uganda beat YMCA Comprehensive Institute 2-0 at their home ground in Mbale.

IUIU’s two goals were scored by Tamubula Ismail through a diving header in the 13th minute thanks to a good ball from Shikanga Emmanuel.

Onongo Denis doubled the hosts’ lead eight minutes later with a powerful free kick he took at least 40 yards from the goal.

However as YMCA were trying to fight back,  their skipper Martin Ssembajjwe was awarded a red card for a foul on Shikanga Emmanuel, an action that deplated the Visitors hope of getting a point.

With the result staying 2-0 till the first half break, YMCA came back in the second half with an aim of limiting damage.

In this their head Coach Kalyesubula told his boys to maintain possession thus keeping the ball for a long period more than they did in the opening and it indeed beared fruits.

The strategy also helped YMCA also get a few chances on goal but the IUIU shot stopper was also good on the day.

This result means IUIU is now level on points with MUBS on six points as YMCA stay bottom of Group B.

On Wednesday, Busitema University will host Kumi University at Busitema grounds.
