Ugandan Boxing referee/judge Steven Tulibagenyi has been invited as one of the officials for the Zone 3 boxing championship that will take place in Yaoundé, Cameroon from January 28th to February 1st, 2020.

Tulibagenyi who holds the AIBA star one referee/judge badge received an invitation letter from the International Boxing Association (AIBA) on Monday 20th through the Cameroonian Boxing Federation.

I am delighted to have such a great opportunity coming through. In the refereeing circles we all look up to bigger achievements.

Said Tulibagenyi in an interview with thetouchlinesports.com.

Tulibagenyi was part of the initial boxing contingent for all Africa games in Morocco in 2019 but he was dropped with other team members due to lack of enough funding from the National Council of Sports (NCS).

He says he has always wanted to officiate at the Olympic games.

My dream goal is to officiate at the Olympics games and the world boxing championships before retiring.

Added Tulibagenyi.

Tulibagenyi is one of the longest-serving referees/judges having joined refereeing in 1994 after retiring as an Armature boxer. He attained the AIBA star one badge in 2018.
