The Uganda U20 Women’s team beat Kenya 3-1 at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende to storm into the third round of the U20 FIFA African Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Uganda advance to the next round with a 10-3 aggregate victory having won the first leg 7-2 at Nyayo International Stadium, Kenya almost a fortnight ago.
Juliet Nalukenge, Margaret Kunihira and Haddija Nandago were on target for Uganda while Peris Oside netted for the visitors.
Kunihira put the Ugandan women ahead after Komuntale’s corner but the scores were level few minutes later as Oside converted from the spot after Joy Oriyo was fouled in the box by Komuntale.
Nandago restored Uganda’s advantage before halftime with a sublime effort that kissed the crossbar to find the back of the net.
Nalukenge put the game to death with a delicious freekick that went into the top corner.
Uganda will face winner between South Africa and Mozambique at a later date.
Africa will be represented by two national teams at next year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
