Turinawe and Mutyagaba Earn ICC Level Two Tutor Certification in Ghana

Cricket Uganda has received a significant boost in its coaching development structure following the successful completion of the International Cricket Council Level Two Tutors Course by Development Manager Davis Turinawe and Northern Regional Development Officer Grace Mutyagaba.

The course, which concluded in Accra, Ghana, marked an important milestone in strengthening coach education capacity within Uganda’s cricket system and across the continent.

Held from 5th to 7th June 2026 at the University of Ghana Sports Directorate, the intensive three-day programme brought together coaching educators from various African nations.

The course was designed to improve the delivery of coach education and promote uniform coaching standards across member countries.

The programme was facilitated by Master Educators Anthonie Ferreira and Chris Cardoso, who guided participants through a blend of theoretical learning, practical field sessions, and continuous evaluations.

Key focus areas included modern coaching approaches, player development systems, and effective tutor delivery techniques.

Turinawe and Mutyagaba stood out through active participation in discussions and strong demonstration of technical competence in coaching education methodologies.

Following the course, Turinawe noted that the training plays a crucial role in harmonising coaching delivery standards across ICC member nations.

The course emphasised standardisation of coaching delivery across member nations, ensuring consistency in developing both grassroots and elite coaches,

he said.

With this qualification, we are now equipped as Level Two tutors, enabling us to train and mentor Level One coaches within Uganda’s cricket development structure.

He further emphasised that the achievement will directly support the growth of cricket in schools and community programmes, where foundational coaching is critical to long-term development.

Cricket Uganda continues to prioritise coach education as a key pillar in strengthening player development pathways and improving performance standards at all levels of the game.

This achievement adds to Uganda’s growing presence in global coach education programmes and reinforces ongoing efforts to build a stronger technical foundation for cricket nationwide.

Ultimately, the certification of Turinawe and Mutyagaba represents another major step in empowering coach educators with the expertise required to develop and inspire the next generation of coaches and players in Uganda.
