Spanish Primera Liga fans will be enjoying a rather lengthy action week this time around with 20 matches in a space of six days starting on Tuesday.

Leaders Real Madrid have had a somewhat interesting start to the season and have come from behind on more than one occasion including their last league game against Valencia on Sunday.

Los Blancos looked unlikely to escape the Mestalla with maximum points and had to wait until late in the game before Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema could combine for the two goals with Benzema being the man on the day. He provided for Vini before getting onto the scoresheet himself two minutes later, also being set up by the Brazilian. The 2-1 win took Carlo Ancelotti’s men to 13 points – two more than their city rivals Atlético Madrid.

Real will be home to newly-promoted Real Mallorca on Wednesday before welcoming Villarreal to the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.

Against Valencia, Real’s defensive woes continued, conceding the seventh goal in just five matches.

Vini and Benzema have so far scored 11 goals for Madrid, nine more than the entire Villarreal team has managed. Surprisingly though, the Yellow Submarines remain undefeated with four draws from four games ahead of Sunday’s standout match.

Only Manu Trigueros and Arnaut Danjumago have scored for Villarreal, having come out to help their team to a 2-2 draw at Atletico. One of the players still awaiting his first goal is Senegalese international Boulaye Dia, who joined the La Liga side from Stade Reims at the start of the season.

Boulaye Dia scored 14 goals in the French Ligue 1 last season before being brought in to the Spanish side as a makeshift for former Barcelona striker Paco Alcácer, who helped Unai Emery win the 2021 Europa League with Villarreal in his first season at the club. He did not score enough goals for Emery’s liking that season though.

Dia though is yet to adapt to Emery’s style and is yet to find his feet like the case for Stade Reims. However, most Villarreal fans still believe that it is just a matter of time before the French-born striker gets his name onto the score chart.

The game will be live on StarTimes channels and Ugandan football fans will be able to find out if the 24-year-old gets his first goal in the La Liga against Real Madrid.
