Match washed out

The Chairman’s XI men’s team clinched victory in the Easter Games series against the SCA XI men’s team in a closely contested match that saw low scores and unpredictable weather conditions.

Winning the toss, the Chairman’s XI elected to bat first at the City Cricket Ground in the heart of Soroti City.

Despite facing challenging conditions, contributions from Oluka Richard (24 off 26) and team captain Felix Musana (28 off 36) helped the Chairman’s XI reach a total of 69/7 in a reduced 15 overs due to inclement weather.

Unfortunately, heavy rain poured down, forcing an early end to the innings before completion.

Apunyo Brian, making a return to the field after a hiatus, showcased his bowling prowess for SCA Select, claiming 3 crucial wickets. He received commendable support from Ogwang Wilfred and Osakan Christopher, who each picked up 2 wickets.

With the game washed out, the points were shared.

However, since the Chairman’s XI had emerged victorious in the first game of the series, they accumulated more points overall, securing the series win.

St Mary’s Madera girls team

Before the afternoon fixture was called off, the SCA XI Ladies secured a victory against St. Mary’s Madera girls by 16 runs, regaining momentum after a loss to Light SS in the opening game that was played yesterday.

The Easter Games will continue tomorrow with the SCA XI Ladies facing the defending champions of the girls’ school Cricket week, Olila High School.

Olila High School boasts three returning players from the African Games who represented the senior women’s national cricket team: left-arm seamer Nandera Immaculate, Malisa Ariokot, and off-spinner Lorna Anyait.

Their presence, along with other talented players like Jimia Mohammad and Akrut Asumin, poses a significant threat to the SCA XI Ladies.

Additionally, the SCA Select side is contemplating including Gloria Obukor, a player on the Victoria Pearls, pending her availability for selection but our sources are reliably informed that she is in Soroti at the moment.

Following this thrilling encounter, the SCA XI men will take on Teso College Aloet in a highly anticipated match that was rescheduled from today due to extenuating circumstances and that will mark the conclusion of the Easter games.
