A few months after making their debuts at the Kwibuka Memorial tournament in Rwanda Malisa Ariokot and Lorna Anyait were among the eight names that will to represent Uganda at the second edition of the Street Child Cricket World Cup.
Aziz Tandia, Ali Balidawa, Jonathan Nyiro, Gerald Olipa, Malisa Ariokot, Lorna Anyait, Agnes Nakakande and Naome Amongin are the other cricketers set to represent the country.
The Street 20 tournament as well known, will have 15 countries and is set to bowl off on Friday 22nd September in Chennai India.
The 15 countries include; Bangladesh, Brazil, Burundi, England, Hungary, Mauritius, Mexico, Nepal, Rwanda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe and hosts India.
However the tournament will be played on a T-20 format but other activities like art workshops and child-friendly sessions will be conducted.
The tournament’s aim will be offering every street children a fair chance in life under the theme of ensuring that the children are aware of what’s happening in their surroundings both socially and culturally.
