Former Maroons and Vipers SC striker Steven Mukwala has completed a move to URA FC on a two-year contract, The Touchline Sports can confirm.
Mukwala who played for Maroons FC last season while on loan from champions, Vipers SC, finished top scorer of the 2019/20 StarTimes UPL with thirteen goals, a feat that attracted a number of potential suitors.
The striker whose contract with Vipers expired last month has been unattached and according to sources close to URA FC and the player, the transfer is done and only awaiting public pronouncement.
Steven Mukwala who was first approached by KCCA FC at the end of the season came close signing with the Lugogo based club but his asking fee was seen to be hefty by the Kasasiro Boys.
According to our sources, Steven Mukwala and his associates asked for Shs. 50 M for the move to be effected. However, the Club was willing to offer Shs. 30 M and a monthly salary of Shs. 1.7M for a period of three years.
It is believed that the striker rejected KCCA FC’s deal because of the period it was set to run for. Steven Mukwala is believed to be engineering a move away to a professional league after a period of six months in the StarTimes UPL this season and three years would be too long for him just in case he lands one.
In another development, URA FC has also agreed on personal terms with Cranes and Proline defender Musitafa Mujuzi, SC Villa’s David Owori, and free agent Jackson Nunda.
