Stella Chesang to battle the three fastest women in history at the London Marathon

Stella Chesang will be the only Ugandan at the TCS London Marathon women’s field on Sunday, April 27 joining one of the most competitive fields in the event’s history.

Kenya presents a double threat with Peres Jepchirchir who will be looking forward to defending her title from last year and world record-holder Ruth Chepngetich.

Ethiopia’s Tigist Assefa, a two-time Berlin Marathon champion, and Sifan Hassan, the Olympic marathon champion, completes the lineup of all three fastest women in marathon history.

Chesang rightfully carries Uganda’s flag the 28year old holds two national records at the 10,000 and half marathon.

She won gold in the 10,000 meters at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, adding to her 2015 African Under-20 Championships bronze in the 5000 meters.

She also represented Uganda at the 2016 Rio Olympics and holds national records for the 10,000 meters and half marathon.
