Richard Wandyaka scored a late screamer for BUL FC to help his side secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over SC Villa in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game played on Friday afternoon at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
With just two minutes remaining on the clock, Wandyaka, from outside the box volleyed his effort past Villa goalkeeper Martin Olungat and into the top corner to win it for the Eastern Giants.
Throughout the game, BUL was the better side as they created chance after after chance but their attackers were wasteful and not clinical.
Wandyaka and Karim Ndugwa had a couple of half chances in the opening half before the later rattled the bottom post in the closing half after chesting down the ball to shoot.
Wandyaka also wasted a glorious chance just after the hour mark when he headed wide a brilliantly driven Ibrahim Kazindula corner.
Ivan Sserubiri had Villa’s best scoring chance of the game earlier on when his freekick from over 40-yards was acrobatically parried away by Emmanuel Kalyowa.
With the victory, BUL consolidate their place atop of the Uganda Premier League log with 10 points in four games.
Villa, who have lost their first game of the season remain second on the log with seven points in four games.
Next up for BUL is a Jinja derby against Gaddafi FC on Tuesday while Villa will host Busoga United next Friday in their next game
