Startimes UPL: Wakiso Giants look to stretch lead at the top

Wakiso Giants will hope to inflict more pain on wounded Express as both sides look to get back to winning ways in the Startimes Uganda Premier League at the Kabaka Kyabaggu, Wakiso

The log leaders who have looked good this season will hope to continue on their splendid form of results that has put them on top of the pile.

The Purple Sharks lay top of Log with 18 points in 9 games after winning five games, drawing thrice and losing the other.

In their last six games, they have won four games and drawn twice something that potrays their form this season with help of all their players  Titus Ssematimba, Goalkeeper Samson Kirya, Owen Kasule among others.

The team will continue to look to Owen Kasule to pull off a great performance however much it didn’t work out for him against Onduparaka.

On the side of Express, having lost to Bright stars has got to raise their fight back spirits as they once again take charge by scrapping out a result against the table leaders.

This game comes at a time where the Red Eagles focus on collecting points to get into the top two league spots.

They will be backed by a couple of results at the back of their heads having won three games on the bounce 2-1 against Onduparaka, 1-0 to BUL and  1-0 against Busoga United before the loss.

Away from the result, without Allan Kayiwa, they will look to Marvin Oshaba who already has a goal this season to his name to put up a performance that will look to lift up the team from the front on the day.

Ahead of the midfielder Joshua Musoke spoke to the club media and affirmed that the team is in the right mentality and ready for Monday’s game;

As players, we are in the right mentality and ready for tomorrow’s game. We have trained well throughout the week and improved on several mistakes that we made in our loss to Bright Stars and we are targeting victory against Wakiso.”

Wakiso Giants drew their last game 0-0 away in Bombo against Onduparaka while Express lost theirs at home 2-0 to Bright Stars courtesy of a Ssenkatuka brace.

What would a win do?

A win for Wakiso Giants will stretch their lead at the top, four points from the second placed team, BUL while for Express it will take them up the table to 4th in place of KCCA level on points with the 2nd and 3rd placed BUL and Vipers SC.
