StarTimes UPL: Vipers travel to Onduparaka seeking for first away victory in Arua

Defending Champions, Vipers SC travel to Arua seeking a first Uganda Premier League victory over Onduparaka FC at the Greenlight Stadium.

The Venoms have not won away at the Caterpillars since the Arua based side was promoted to Uganda’s top-flight in 2016.

In their four visits to Arua, the Venoms have drawn goalless thrice and lost the other by a 1-0 scoreline courtesy of a Mohammed Shaban goal. That means they will also be looking for their maiden goal at the pre-mentioned pitch

Fast-forward this season, although Vipers are still unbeaten, they have failed to find convincing results away from home, winning just one of their four away games this season, a 3-5 against Busoga United.

Their opponents meanwhile are still unbeaten at home this season but have only won once (3-1 against Kyetume), with the other three home games ending in 1-all draws.

Heading into this game, Vipers sit second on the log with 21 points and know a win against the Caterpillars will make them reclaim their spot atop of the log but Onduparaka will hope to redeem themselves with a win having lost their last league game to Police FC on Wednesday and now sit seventh on the log with 15 points.

This will be the first time Rashid Toha meets with his former paymasters, Onduparaka having departed the Caterpillars for the venoms in July 2019.

Team News

Vipers SC will still be without Milton Kalisa who is still recovering from a thigh injury he sustained with the Uganda Cranes at CHAN 2020, while Bobosi Byaruhanga, Aziz Kayondo, Ivan Ashaba and Richard Basangwa are also out due to engagements with the Uganda Hippos in Mauritania.

Onduparaka FC head coach Vialli Bainomugisha has a fully fit squad to choose from with no fresh injury concerns.
