Vipers SC move back atop of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after they returned to winning ways by defeating SC Villa 3-0 on Wednesday evening.

Yunus Sentamu opened the scoring for Vipers SC in the first half while Ceasar Manzoki had a second half brace to ensure the venoms took care of Villa.

The Venoms fed off a blistering start as they netted with just six minutes played when Sentamu finished off after an exquisitely set up by Milton Karisa. Karisa received the ball from Anukaki to make a pull back for last season’s league topscorer.

But minutes before the goal though, Martin Ssenkoto brilliantly saved Paul Willa’s long range ferocious shot.

On the 36th minute, Vipers had a chance to double their lead but Bright Anukani shot over the crossbar after excellent works by Karisa and Sentamu.

Before the break, Vipers luckily almost got their second but Disan Galiwango cross was parried away for a cornerkick by Ssenkoto.

In a half dominated by the home side, Vipers SC, the Jogoos best attempt at goal fell to Goffin oyirwoth, but the youngster shot high and wide after being set up by Isaac Ogwang.

Villa head coach Petros Koukouras was also cautioned by Referee George Olemu for his protests in what he guided a foul on Goffin by Willa.

Just like the first half, the Venoms dominated much of the proceedings in the closing half, imposing alot of pressures on the youthful Villa backline trying to get the second and put the game out of reach for the visitors.

At hour-mark, Vipers got rewarded for their relentless pressures as Manzoki stole the ball from Amir Kakomo to take a first time shot that eluded past Ssenkooto in the Villa goal for Vipers second of the game.

With his side 3-0 up, Vipers head coach Roberto Oliveira gave Frank Tumwesigye his debut, coming on for Bright Anukani in the 80th minute.

Villa tried to get a goal back in the closing exchanges of the game but the venoms back remained rocksolid.

With the victory, Vipers return to the top of 16-team log with 33 points, transcending KCCA FC by two points.

While Villa, who are now winless in three remain 11th with 16 points.
