StarTimes UPL: Vipers out for a fourth win over Busoga United in one

0

Defending champions Vipers SC will host Busoga United on Tuesday evening at the St. Mary’s Stadium seeking a fourth consecutive victory over the Jinja based side this season.

The Venoms defeated the Mighty Team 5-3 in the reverse league fixture in the first leg before handing them another defeat in the Stanbic Uganda Cup last week. Vipers won both legs with a 5-1 aggregate margin.

The Venoms sit top of the log with 36 points garnered in 16 games while Busoga United are 12th on the log with 17th points

Both teams head into this game having won their last league outings as Vipers defeated UPDF 3-0 away from home in Bombo, while Busoga United garnered their first top-flight win over Onduparaka FC after a 2-0 victory at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

Vipers are the second league top scorers this season after KCCA, having netted 36 goals in 16 games while Busoga United are second to Kyetume amongst the least scoring side. They have scored just 1 more than Kyetume who have scored 13 times.

Vipers have won all their eight League home games this season, beating UPDF, Kitara FC, MYDA, Bright Stars, Police, SC Villa, KCCA and BUL in the process, while Busoga United have so far garnered only one win on the road in seven games, beating up on Wakiso Giants in their last away game.

Victory for Vipers could extend the Venoms lead of the log as their joint leaders, URA FC faces a tricky KCCA side on the same day, while a win for Busoga United would tentatively move them a place up on the log, above Mbarara City if the Ankole Lions fail to beat a struggling MYDA.
