Fred Amaku and Milton Karisa netted for Maroons and Vipers respectively as both teams shared a point each at the Luzira Prison Grounds on Wednesday evening.

Vipers started off on the front foot after coming into the game as favorites despite their recent record at the ground.

However it didn’t go as expected when Yunus Sentamu, Bright Anukani and Erick Kambale all missed their chances early into the game before Maroons got the opener.

In the 34th minute, Amaku opened the scoring for Maroons, pouncing on a loose ball after goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora failed to keep out a Solomon Walusimbi’s thunderous shot to finish the first half 1-0.

Six minutes after the restart, Karisa received a ball from Kambale only to turn the defender beautiful on the 6 yard box to slot the ball home, opposite and past Hannington Ssebwalunyo to level the score.

The visitors continued to search for a winner but was all in vain after Karisa‘s 83rd minute, but his goal was disallowed for offside.

This result leaves Vipers in second two points off BUL in second with 24 points in 11 games, for the hosts, a point placed sixth with 19 points out of a possible 33.

In their next games, Vipers will now need to beat League leaders BUL in their next match at the St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on December 23.

While Maroons will take a trip to Adjumani to face bottom side Arua Hill SC on 20th December.
