Startimes UPL: Vipers continue to eye summit as they host Onduparaka


Vipers will look to get back to winning ways as the face bottom side Onduparaka in the Startimes Uganda Premier League on Wednesday at the St Mary’s Stadium.

With a loss in the last game at the back of their heads, the Venoms sit 4th on the log with 20 points in ten games and will hope to win this to go top.

With an advantage of home support, Vipers will need get all their forwards scoring in continued absence of their top scorer this season, Yunus Sentamu something that will boost their performance in the game.

Head coach Robertinho talked to Vipers Media ahead of the game and said that his team had to dust themselves off;

Credit to them, they made it tough and difficult. We’ve just got to dust ourselves off and stay confident, it’s halfway so we’ve still got a chance to bounce back,”

We can take confidence from the way we dominated possession, especially in the second half. The chances will come. It’s not over, far from it.”

On the otherside, Onduparaka will be boosted with the appointment of a new coach in tactician Steven Bogere.

With this looking to a hard task for both the players and coach, the Caterpillars will lift themselves up in order to impress the new gaffer.

They Arua side are winless this season and sit bottom of the table with two points in 10 games.

Vipers continue to be without Yunus Sentamu who is still out nursing a groin injury and Murushid Juuko who sustained a significant sprain to his right ankle ligament during the game away at Gaddafi FC.

Long-term absentees Paul Mucureezi and Livingstone Mulondo will stay sidelined with their respective injury setbacks.
