Lanky forward Yunus Sentamu netted a brace as Vipers SC humbled Maroons FC 3-0 at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday evening.
The other Vipers’ goal was scored by captain Milton Karisa as the Venoms cruised to a well deserved victory against Maroons.
Karisa gave the venoms the lead in the 19th minute, netting from a rebound after a Bright Anukani freekick was palmed away by Simon Tamale – the Maroons’ goalkeeper.
Apart from that goal, the opening half was short of goalscoring chances save for Isaac Mpangi’s freekick which was easily parried away by Vipers’ Congolese goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza.
Immediately after the break, the Venoms had a brilliant chance to double their lead but Cromwell Rwothomio failed to beat Tamale from close range.
On the other end few minutes later, Maroons came close to levelling matters but Mudekereza made another brilliant save to deny Fred Amaku.
In the 64th minute, the venoms finally doubled their lead through Sentamu who scored exquisitely from Frank Tumwesigye’s freekick.
Just after game’s restart, the Vipers striker completed his double – putting the ball past Tamale and into the back of net following Milton Karisa’s superb pass.
Sentamu had a chance to complete his hat-trick later on, only to be denied by Tamale who punched the ball out for a cornerkick.
With their first maximum points, Vipers move to four points on the log and currently sit 12th with only three games played .
For Maroons, they remain fifth on the log with eight points in six games.
