Sports Club Villa has defeated Gadafi 1-0 in the star times Uganda premier league game at the Muteesa 2 stadium in Wankulukuku on Wednesday evening.

The only goal of the day was scored by center forward Ivan Bogere in the 54th minute utilizing the mistake made by Gadafi’s goalkeeper, Andrew Ssekandi when he pounced Umar Lutalo’s shot into the sixteen yards box after a goalless halftime.

Into the game, the visitors looked more attacking in the first half through Benson Muhindo, Ronald Bithum, most of their attempts being deflected into corner kicks as well as being blocked.

Villa had outstanding goalscoring attempts from Hakim Kiwanuka, Patrick Jonah Kakande and Umar Lutalo but their opportunities were mostly saved by Gadafi’s goalkeeper, Andrew Ssekandi ending the halftime goalless.

The Jogoos started the second half on a high note, securing the lead in only nine minutes of the second half.

The soldier boys became so demanding after the hosts taking a lead. Benson Muhindo, substitute Rashid Mpaata’s attempts all failed to level matters for the visitors.

SC Villa’s Gavin Kizito Mugweri and Ronald Ssekiganda as well as Gadafi’s Franco Magero Balabala had to be substituted in the second half due to injuries.

SC Villa currently sits in the 5th position with 19 points while Gadafi in the 9th position with 13 points. Both teams have played 11 games so far in the season.

The Jogoos will host KCCA fc at the Muteesa 2 stadium Wankulukuku on 22nd December while the Soldier boys will host relegation zone positioned Wakiso Giants at the Gadafi Arena in Jinja on 23rd December.
