Police FC rallied from two goals down to deny UPDF FC maximum points in a Uganda Premier League game played on Thursday at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Two second half goals from Juma Balinya and Yusuf Ssozi ensured the game ended 2-all after Andrew Kawooya and Ivan Ahimbisibwe had put the visitors ahead in the opening half.
Kawooya put UPDF ahead in the 9th minute with an excellent freekick that oozed past Police goalkeeper Abdul Kimera.
The visitors soon doubled their lead through Ahimbisibwe’s penalty after James Begisa was fouled in the area by Emmanuel Mugume.
Police had attempts before the break but UPDF custodian Wasswa Yusuf was brilliant in denying Juma Balinya twice and Frank Kalanda.
With the introduction of Johnson Odongo and Marvin Oshaba at the restart, Police got back into the game and it didn’t take them too long to pull a goal back.
Balinya put his direct fire kick into the back of the net after Odong was fouled outside the area in the 57th minute.
The Cops kept on pushing for an equaliser and they were rewarded in the 70th minute when Ssozi shot in a well delivered Odongo cross to level matters for his side.
After that equaliser, Police looked for the winner but they were unable to find it so the game ended with score tied.
With the draw, Police FC remain 11th on the log with 17 points while UPDF remain 9th with 21 points.
