Ibrahim Orit netted a brace as Vipers came from behind to secure a 3-2 victory over 10-man Police FC at the St.Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Friday evening.
Orit found the back of the net twice and set up the other as Vipers outclassed Police to go top of the log.
In an end to end first half , Both side scored with their shot on target with Ibrahim Orit breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute before his goal was cancelled out two minutes afterwards by Eric Ssenjobe
Orit chested down Disan Galiwango’s cross and shot it low into the left hand corner to give Vipers the lead while Ssenjobe headed in Ruben Kimera’s cornerkick from the right to level matters for the Cops.
After getting the equaliser, the visitors, Police FC continued to cause more attacking threat to the Vipers backline and in the 27th minute, they came close to getting their second of the game but Tom Mawejje’s freekick from outside the box went agonizingly above the crossbar with Bashir Sekagya in the Vipers goal well beaten.
From a Galiwango’s defensive error in the 35th minute, Joseph Odongo capitalized and set up Brian Mululi who controlled, made a swift turn and placed the ball past Sekagya for Police’s second of the game.
Four minutes afterwards, the game witnessed a controversial moment after Derrick Ochan was sent off by referee George Olemu for alledgingly handling the ball outside his penalty area. Goalie Tom Ikara was bought on for Muwadda Mawejje.
From the resulting freekick, Watambala failed to put his strike past the Cops’ defensive wall to ensure the game went into the halftime break with the defending champions Vipers trailing by 2-1.
At the start of the second half, Vipers head coach Fred Kajoba introduced on Paul Mucurezi for David Bagoole with an effort to impose more pressure on the shorthanded Police
And the substitution paid off in the 49th when Mucurezi brilliantly lofted in a freekick for Orit to head in his second and pull his side level with more than 40 minutes on the clock.
Just after the hour mark, Mululi got a rare chance to add his second of the day but he bulleted his shot wide
Yunus Sentamu wasted a brilliant chance to put his name on the scoresheet when he shot high and wide after excellent work by sensational Orit off the right flank to find his unmarked in the box.
A minute after coming on for Mohammad Shaban, Cesar Manzoki Lobi completed Vipers’ come back, finding the back with a net with a wonderful right footed strike off a well driven Ibrahim Orit cross in the 76th minute.
