Hillary Onek and Jerome Kirya were on target for BUL FC as they defeated Gaddafi FC 2-0 in a Jinja derby played at the Gaddafi Arena on Friday.
Onek’s goal came in the first half to break the deadlock while Kirya netted later on to seal off the victory for the Eastern Giants, who finished the game with only 10 men.
From a scrappy opening half, BUL FC went into the break leading courtesy of Hilliary Onek’s glancing header in the 13th minute.
Onek run away from his marker to head in Ibrahim Mugulusi’s wonderful driven corner.
Apart from that strike, both sides struggled to create any meaningful chance at goal apart from Amos Kirya’s effort that he headed wide with just keeper to beat.
With his side trailing at halftime, Gaddafi coach Mubarakah Wabyona made two introductions to bring on Alex Kitata and Naziri Sserwada for Umar Kyeyune and Hassan Musana respectively.
BUL also introduced on Ibrahim Nsimbe for an injured George Kasonko at the restart.
BUL were reduced to 10-men at hour-mark after Douglas Maganga received his second caution after a foul on Faizu Muwawu.
Few moments playing with a numerical advantage, Gaddafi almost levelled matters but Kitata shot inches wide.
Despite being a man less. BUL extended their lead in the 79th minute through Jerome Kirya who rose high to head in a wonderfully driven in Reagan Kalyowa cross.
With the spirited win, BUL move to third place on the log as they now have 44 points in 25 games.
For Gaddafi, they remain ninth with 28 points.
