Kitara Football Club secured a remarkable victory over KCCA FC, thanks to Denis Omedi’s lone goal in a thrilling encounter under the floodlights at Philp Omondi Stadium.

The atmosphere was electric, with a massive turnout of enthusiastic Kitara FC fans packing the stadium to capacity.

The match kicked off with Katenga Openga Etiene’s promising run for KCCA FC, only to be fouled early on.

Despite Mohammad Shaban’s attempt from the subsequent set piece, the ball sailed over the bar. Joseph Ogwang’s timely block denied Kitara’s Solomon Okwalinga soon after.

However, Omedi Denis squandered a chance in the 9th minute, failing to convert a well-executed pass from Brian Aheebwa.

Kitara’s goalkeeper, Kusiima, showcased his skill with a crucial save from Achaye’s shot in the 11th minute.

Mohammad Shaban’s header was also thwarted by Kusiima in the 14th minute, as KCCA FC applied pressure in the early stages but struggled to find the net.

As the first half progressed, Jude Semugabi’s attempt was saved by Emojong, followed by a close call from Denis Omedi. Despite several opportunities, the first half ended in a stalemate.

The second half saw Brian Aheebwa’s powerful shot narrowly miss the target in the 53rd minute. Substitutions injected fresh energy into both sides, with Zaga replacing Solomon Okwalinga for Kitara FC.

A defensive lapse by KCCA’s Peter Magambo allowed Denis Omedi to capitalize and score for the visitors in the 79th minute, sealing the victory with a blistering strike.

KCCA FC missed the contributions of Usama Arafat and Saidi Mayanja, who were away on national team duty with the Under 20 team.
This win marked Kitara FC’s second triumph over KCCA FC this season, following their earlier 3-1 victory in Masindi.

Currently placed second in the table with 35 points from 8 games, Kitara FC trails leaders Bul FC by just two points but maintains a five-point lead over Vipers, albeit having played two more games.

For KCCA FC they remain in 9th with 23 points.

Kitara FC’s upcoming fixture against Wakiso Giants at home in Masindi promises to be another exciting encounter, while KCCA FC will face NEC FC at their shared stadium.
