StarTimes UPL: Nothing separates Bright Stars and Arua Hill in Kavumba

Soltilo Bright Stars and Arua Hill SC have played out to a goalless stalemate in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game on Friday.

Nothing could separate the two sides at the soggy Kavumba Recreation Center Stadium.

Nelson Nelly Ssekatuuka wasted couple of chances for Bright Stars while Alfred Leku had Arua Hill best attempt of the game.

There was nothing much to report about in the first 25 minutes as both side resorted to a cautious approach to the game.

The first realistic goal scoring chance came in the 27th minute after Striker Alfred Leku capitalized on Allan Katwe’s slip to set up Samuel Kayongo Ssekamate, but the former Bright Stars forward agnozingly failed to connect with a well driven ball.

Before the break, Nelson Ssekatuuka had two brilliant chances to put Bright Stars ahead but Arua Hill goalkeeper Rodgers Omedwa saved on both occasions.

Omedwa easily collected Ssekatuuka’s shot with ease in the 32nd minute before the former Busoga United’s goalie parried away the Bright Star’s skippers shot moments later.

Just like in the opening half where chances were far and between each other, the second half was no different but Bright Stars dominated much of the proceedings.

Sekatuuka had a freekick saved by Omedwa il after Methodius Jungu was fouled just outside the box in the 54th minute.

Before Omedwa parried away Emmanuel Loki’s shot to the corner immediately after the hour mark.

Ssekatuuka squadded another brilliant chance with 13 minutes left on the clock when he blazed his effort wide after Omedwa and Rashid Toha failed to deal with a bouncing ball to gift the Bright Star’s captain with an opportunity.

Arua Hill first attempt at goal in the second half came in the 79th minute as Leku’s acrobatic effort was saved by Simon Tamale.

At the end of the 90 minutes, nothing could separate the two sides as the game ended in a dull stalemate.

With the draw, Bright Stars remain 14th on the log with 6 points garnered in 10 games. They play BUL in their next fixture away.

While, Arua Hill who stay seventh on the log with 14 points will host SC Villa next on Tuesday.
