Rogers Mato scored the all-important goal for KCCA at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo as the Kasasiro Boys defeated Vipers SC on Saturday evening.

KCCA were dominant throughout the opening half as Vipers struggled to impose themselves onto the game.

As early as the fifth minute, KCCA broke the deadlock through Rogers Mato, who was brilliantly found unmarked in the box by Allan Okello to head in from close range and give his side an early lead.

Just soon afterwards, Vipers almost levelled matters but Striker Darcy Mbaka Kipoy’s curly effort kissed the crossbar to go out of play.

From then on, it was KCCA all throughout for the rest of the opening half and were unlucky not to add on their advantage before the break.

In the 26h minute, Denis Iguma shot just inches off the mark before Moses Waiswa blazed just over with arguably the last kick of the half.

After the break, the venoms got another chance to put the scores level but Livingstone Mulondo- unmarked at the back post agonizingly headed wide from exquisite Bright Anukani’s freekick.

Vipers continued to look for an equaliser but it’s KCCA, on the break who looked more threatening to score the game’s next goal.

After a nice linkup play between Allan Okello and Kankonde Tshisungu, Okello found himself in the box to beat off two defenders and shot at goal, but his effort was deflected wide for a corner.

In the later exchanges of the game, KCCA held on to secure the victory
