URA FC extended their lead atop of the StarTimes UPL log to four points after they dispatched Mbarara City 2-0 on Tuesday at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje University.

Goals from Brian Majwega and Shafik Kagimu were all what Sam Simbwa’s side needed to get the job done.

The Tax Collectors broke the deadlock early on in the game when Joachim Ojera was fouled in the penalty area by Ibrahim Magandazi. Brian Majwega steeped up and dispatched the resulting spot kick past Martin Elugat and into the back of the net.

After conceding a goal, Mbarara City head coach Livingstone Mbabazi made a tactical change, bringing on Steven Othieno for John Adriko who was dismal in the early exchanges.

Moments later, Moses Sseruyidde had a chance to double the tax collectors lead but his effort flashed wide off the mark.

Mbarara best effort in the opening half fell to Solomon Okwalinga but the attacking midfielder could only guide his effort agonizingly wide.

The game went into recess with the home side, URA FC in a slight 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Mbabazi bought on Bashir Mutanda for Bebe Swalik while Sam Simbwa, the URA head coach introduced on Ivan Sserubiri for Michael Birungi

And Sserubiri provided a quick impact as he was involved in URA’s second goal of the game, setting up Shafik Kagimu to double the Tax Collectors advantage at the hour mark.

From then on, Mbarara City tried their level best to get a consolation goal but Hillary Mukundane and Bashir Mutanda missed great opportunities in a space of 4 minutes.

Mukundane blazed his effort wide while Mutanda, who received a ball from Pitis Balenga tried an audacious overhead kick that also flew over the crossbar.

The last chance of the game fell to URA’s Sseruyidde but the midfielder put his effort just wide.

URA have extended their lead atop of the UPL log to four points as they now on 47 points ahead of their home encounter against Onduparaka on Friday.

Mbarara City meanwhile slip down to 10th on the log as they are now on 25 points garnered in 21 games.
