Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) winless run at the Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara, has continued following the Kasasiro Boys’ played out to a goalless draw with Mbarara City on Wednesday.

KCCA FC has now played 4 games against Mbarara City at the Kakyeka Stadium but has failed on all attempts to win a game against the Ankole Lions, recording three draws and one loss.

With a superior record at home against the Kasasiro Boys, Mbarara City dominated proceedings throughout the game and were just unlucky not to find the breakthrough on several occasions.

Henry Kitegenyi had the first realistic goalscoring chance in the 33rd minute when he was set-up by Innocent Wafula but the former Vipers striker narrowly missed the target from point-blank range.

Moments later, Kitegenyi was once again at the heart of things but this time, his sublime strike was cleared away off the line for a corner kick by Peter Mugambo with Charles Lukwago well beaten.

KCCA were forced to make a substitution in the first half after Julius Poloto was stretched off to pave way for Sam Ssenyonjo midway through the first half.

Just after the break, the Ankole Lions had another brilliant chance to take the lead through Ramathan Karim but the defender’s headed effort was cleared by Hebert Achai. Bebe Swalik couldn’t find the target after the clearance fell to him.

The game then witnessed its first yellow card in the 51st minutes as Ibrahim Magandazi was cautioned for his harsh foul on Samuel Ssenyonjo.

Just after the hours-mark, Lukwago was once again superb between KCCA’s sticks when he parried away John Adriko’s excellent shot from over 25 yards for a corner kick.

Mbarara City continued to mount pressure on the KCCA backline and came close again in the 74th minute when Substitute Bashir Mutanda, who came on for Kitegenyi, was set up by Solomon Okwalinga but he placed his effort agonizingly wide.

KCCA’s best goalscoring chances of the game came in the 90th minute when Ssenyonjo skyed his effort above the crossbar after dribbling past two Mbarara City defenders.

KCCA struggled to create chances throughout the game and will feel relieved they never lost their sixth game of the season.

The result sees KCCA move back to 4th position on 34 points, level on points who Police FC who defeated Kitara FC 4-1 on Tuesday.

For Mbarara, they stay 11th on the standings with just 22 points from 19 games.

In their next fixtures, KCCA travels to Onduparaka on Sunday while Mbarara host SC Villa on Saturday.
