StarTimes UPL: KCCA held by 10-man SC Villa at Lugogo

KCCA FC were held to a goalless stalemate by SC Villa in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League played at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday.

The Jogoos, who put up a spirited performance had to finish the game a man down after left-back Joseph Kafumbe was sent off midway the closing half.

KCCA dominated most of the proceedings in the opening half but failed to convert their chances on several occasions.

Patrick Kaddu, Sadat Anaku and Usama Arafati had their efforts stopped by Villa goalkeeper Martin Ssenkooto while Herbert Achai blazed over.

Villa best chance in the opening half fell to Sadam Masereka who controlled a long ball brilliantly but failed to beat KCCA goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan.

Just like the first half, KCCA had the best chances in the second half but lacked that finishing touch to turn their chances into goals.

Hassan Jurua headed wide while Sadat Anaku saw his effort go wide.

Villa were reduced to 10 men in the 69th minute as Kafumbe was given his matching orders by referee Ssali Masoud for a second booking offence.

Immediately after going a man down, Villa almost also went a goal down by Gift Fred made a goal line clearance to deny Kaddu who had beat off Ssenkooto.

KCCA tried to win it at the end but the Villa defense worked tirelessly for a point.

This results means KCCA have failed to go level on points with Leaders Vipers, who lost to Tooro United on Friday. KCCA is on 41 points and are now two points below the venoms.

For Villa, They move to 19 points and now occupy 12th position with 10 games left.
