Forward Patrick Henry Kaddu’s strike earlier on in the game was enough for Kampala Capital City Authority to break URA jinx.

Kaddu netted the lone goal on Wednesday as KCCA FC defeated URA FC for the first time in three seasons.

Kasasiro Boys had last beaten the Tax Collectors in 2019, 1-0 victory away in Namboole.

From arguably the first attempt of the game, Patrick Kaddu netted his first goal for KCCA since his return when he pounced on loose ball to break the deadlock in the very first minute.

KCCA continued to attack the Tax Collectors end and almost their second moments later but Rogers Mato blazed the ball high after brilliant work by Kaddu to zero Usama Arafati’s pass.

Before the break, Kaddu almost doubled his tally but URA goalkeeper Nathian Alionzi came off the bench, made himself big and stopped the lethal striker’s effort.

The visitors, URA were blunt throughout the opening half as they struggled to break the Kasasiro Boy’s blocks. Steven Mukwala was almost inexistent.

1-0 and the game went into the break with the hosts holding a slim 1-0 lead.

Despite his side leading at halftime, KCCA head coach Morley Byekwaso made his first change before the restart, bringing on Yassar Mugerwa for Rogers Mato.

Sam Timbe, the URA head coach also responded with a change of his own, bringing on the industrious Ivan Sserubiri for Ibrahim Dada, with hope that Sserubiri can spark a change of fortunes for his side.

But it was KCCA that got the game’s next chance just before the hour mark, but Arafati failed to connect well with a brilliant Herbert Achai cross for Alionzi to easily collect.

Alionzi also did brilliantly, getting down to deny Kaddu’s header in 71st minute to keep his side still in the game.

KCCA looked the more luckily side to add the second in the last 10 minutes, but substitute Charles Lwanga missed a header from close range after an excellent set-up by Mugerwa.

URA tried to get a leveller in the later exchanges of the game but the Kasasiro Boys stood tall and held on to secure maximum points.

With the victory, KCCA move back to within one point below leaders Vipers SC as they now on 35 points in 16 games.

Despite the loss, URA remain third on the log with 28 points garnered in 16 games.
