StarTimes UPL: Jubilations delayed, Express’ trophy celebrations pushed

The coronation ceremony of Startimes Uganda Premier League Champions Express FC which was scheduled to take place on Thursday at Startimes Head Offices located at Soliz house have been pushed to next week.

The reason for the postponement is to allow the Startimes dignitaries from China who will be arriving in the country over the weekend to attend the ceremony.

Startimes are proposing Tuesday 13th or Wednesday 14th July 2021 but will wait for communication from FUFA for the final day so a joint decision is arrived at.

Express were declared Startimes Uganda Premier League Champions for the 7th time in the club history after the league was suspended with four games left to play.

This becomes the second title in Ugandan football to be won under the strict restrictions arising from the lockdown that barred people from converging due to the coronavirus.

It should be remembered that Vipers have never received their trophy and medals after winning the 2019/20 season, which they also won prematurely.
