Mbarara City FC captain Hillary Mukundane and Othieno Stephen have been suspended by the FUFA following their comments during Mbarara City’s game with Onduparaka FC last week at AbaBet Green Light Stadium-Arua.
Mukundane and Othieno made offensive, abusive and harmful comments towards match officials after conceding a penalty against Onduparaka that was scored by Kabon Living.
Disciplinary proceedings were opened against Mukundane and Othieno after the match and FUFA after thorough investigations found out that statements the players made appeared to be in contravention of the FUFA Competitions rules which were interpreted as ‘threatening to the match officials’.
FUFA, through their Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, has now suspended the Mbarara City pair for 4 competitive matches for breaking Article 30(2) of the FUFA Competition Rules.
The suspension of the two takes effect today, 17th March 2021, which means Mukundane and Othieno will miss their side’s game with BUL FC at the Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara on Wednesday evening.
