Startimes UPL: Express secure their first win of the campaign


Express have beaten Busoga United in their second game of the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League season at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

The Red Eagles won with a deserved 2-0 score with goals coming from Allan Kayiwa’s 18th minute penalty and a 68th minute own goal by Stephen Odongo.

It was a bad day in office for Busoga United and Odongo in particular bringing down Isaac Wagoina in the area in the opening half and slotting home a Isma Kawawulo’s corner.

During the game, Busoga United tried to level matters twice hitting the crossbar through a Jeremy Matata freekick and Emmanuel Ajo’s header.

This is Express’ first win of the campaign after drawing their maiden game of the season against Wasswa Bbosa’s Mbarara City in their opening fixture.

For Busoga United, they have suffered their second loss of the campaign, their first coming in the previous game against NEC FC

Express will host Bright Stars at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku just like Busoga United who will welcome Mbarara City to the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

In the other game of the day, Solitilo Bright Stars drew one- all with the tax collectors of URA Football Club at Kavumba.

URA FC’s goal came earlier on in the 19th minute of the game through Ivan Ahimbisibwe only for Bright stars forward Nelson Senkatuka to equalize thirteen minute to the end of the closing half.
