Eric Mutebi netted two penalties as 10-man Malaba Youth Development Association Football Club (MYDA FC) came from behind to defeat Onduparaka FC 3-2 in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League game at the AbaBet Greenlight Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Eric Mutebi netted a penalty in each half while namesake Peter Mutebi added the other as the flying Eagles secured their second win of the season.

Onduparaka started the game the brightest and had the first real chance at goal when Noel Nasasira rounded off MYDA goalie, Andrew Ssekandi, only to guide his effort wide.

But moments later, after relentless pressure on the MYDA defence, Allan Busobozi was stripped in the forbidden area by Faisal Muledhu to hand Onduparaka a chance that broke the deadlock.

Moses Okot stepped up and converted from the spot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way in the 16th minute.

However, moments later, MYDA levelled matters from the spot after Gibson Adinho brought down Peter Mutebi in the penalty area for Eric Mutebi to step up and score the equaliser.

But, just before the MYDA goal, Onduparaka had a chance to double their advantage twice through Nasasira, but the forward put all headed effort above the crossbar.

Just before the halftime break, Onduparaka restored their advantage when Jamal Malish netted a spectacular freekick from almost 30 yards away to ensure the caterpillars go into recess with a well-deserved 2-1 lead.

In the second half, Onduparaka FC head coach Julius Mutyaba introduced Kabon Living and Rashid Okocha for Noel Nasasira and Mahdi Ajobe respectively trying to add to the home side’s advantage.

Seeking for an equaliser, MYDA head coach who started the game with only two players on the substitution bench brought on Mark Bassi for Ibra Nsimbe but, disaster hit them once again in the 78th minute when they were reduced to 10 men after Brandy Lojum was sent off for a second bookable offence after fouling John Rogers.

Moments later, the score was levelled once again from the spot after Amos Kirya was fouled in the forbidden area. Mutebi stepped up and levelled matters with just 10 minutes to the death of the game.

With just two minutes to the death of the game, MYDA completed a dramatic comeback to defeat Onduparaka after Peter Mutebi’s shot ended went straight into the back of the net after a goalkeeping mistake by Tony Kyamera.

Just before the end of the game, Onduparaka were also reduced to ten men after Jamal Malish was also sent off.

With the rare away win, MYDA move to nine points in their 19 games this season, having won two, drawn 3 and lost the other 14 games. Meanwhile, Onduparaka drops to the tenth position on the 16-team log with only 24 points.
