Startimes UPL: BUL, KCCA share spoils in Njeru

BUL and KCCA leave the FUFA technical center with a point each after a well contested game of football in the Startimes Uganda Premier League on Tuesday.

BUL’s Vicent Zziwa opened the scoring as Julius Poloto leveled matters through a wonderful header to put the game into a 1-1 draw.

In a game that was wholesomly dominated by KCCA, BUL got the first goal of the game in the 11th minute through a Zziwa volleyed ball after KCCA failed to deal with a cross from Ivan Wani.

Nine minutes later, Zziwa struck once again but this time round it was punched by Benjamin Ochan in the KCCA goal though the rebound was widely shot over the bar by Jerome Kirya.

With in seconds, the ball got to the otherside as Allan Okello teed up Kagawa who crossed the ball into the box only for Shaban to miss the touch hence the ball rolling out wide.

With KCCA exerting more pressure, twenty eight minutes into the game, Brian Majwega threw the ball to from the left wing, Poloto executing a little flick on the ball to the path of Shaban whose overhead kick goes wide.

The minutes to the end of the openning half,
Majwega crossed into the box to find Poloto whose header is cleared off the line, the closest KCCA came in the first half of the game.

In second half, KCCA made a tactical substitution bringing off Ashraf Mugume for Saidi Mayanja. A minute after, parity is restored for KCCA as Poloto headed home to level the tie after a good ball from Okello to bring back the game to life.

At the hour mark, Shaban failed to convert a great chance after a good ball from Kagawa, the ball going wide.

In the 67th, substitute Kankonde picked his spot only to shoot from distance but Goal keeper parries the ball away. That was close from the big man.

This is KCCA ‘s second draw of the campaign and take their unbeaten run to eight games. They move three points clear at the top with hope that their rivals Vipers don’t win against Express.

For this draw means they go to 24, a point ahead of Vipers, with the same prayer as KCCA.

KCCA will play Busoga United next in Lugogo on 16th December while BUL will face Vipers away.
