StarTimes UPL: Bobosi, Orit on target as Vipers overcome Mbarara in Kakyeka

Youngster Bobosi Byaruhanga and Ibrahim Orit were on target to help Vipers secure a narrow 2-1 victory over Mbarara City FC in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter at the Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara on Friday.

Bobosi netted in the first half while Orit came from the bench to ensure the Venoms broke the Mbarara jinx to maintain pressure on table leader KCCA FC.

The Venoms broke the deadlock early in the game, Bobosi find the back of the net from outside the box after a superb ball from Ceaser Manzoni.

Vipers nearly doubled their lead moments later but forward, Yunus Sentamu failed to connect with a teasing Milton Marisa’s cross.

Sentamu was then withdrawn after sustaining a bad injury and Orit, took up his place.

Before the break, both Manzoki and Bobosi had chances to extend their side’s lead but they all missed the target with their efforts.

In the first quarter of the second half, the game looked cagey as both sides struggled to create scoring opportunities.

Vipers doubled their lead in the 74th minute with Orit turned in a brilliant Manzoki pass to make it 2-0.

At almost the death of the game, Pistis Barange netted Mbarara consolation but it wasn’t enough to impact the result of the game.

With the win, Vipers stay second on the log with 13 points in 5 games and will play URA FC next weekend.

Mbarara, meanwhile drop to 10th place with six points. They will play winless Police FC next in Lugogo.
