Both Blacks Power and Soltilo Bright Stars picked up their first wins of the season on Tuesday evening when the StarTimes Uganda Premier League resumed with three games.
Bright Stars edged past Onduparaka FC 2-1 while Blacks Power defeated Maroons FC 3-1 on the road.
The Stars made a dream start to their game at Kavumba Recreation Ground as they scored in the first minute of the game through Innocent Kitimbo but Dominic Abanga levelled matters for Onduparaka before the break.
Few minutes after the hour mark, Nelson Ssekantuka scored the winner to secure his side their three points of the season.
A first victory for the Asaph Mwebaze’s coached side move them to 11th position on the log with 8 points in as many game. Coming into this game, they had drawn five games and lost twice.
For Onduparaka, they remain rock bottom with just a point as they have lost their last four games.
In Luzira, Blacks Power also secured it’s first victory of the season after beating Maroons 3-1 at the Luzira Prisons Grounds.
Dickens okwir put the Lira-based side ahead with seven minutes on the clock, but their lead never lasted so long as Solomon Walusimbi netted for Maroons to level matters few moments afterwards.
Mike Siwu restored Blacks Power’s advantage in the 32nd minutes from the spot before Simon Peter Otto extended it before the break.
Maroons tried to pull atleast a goal back in the closing half but that was made impossible by the Black Power’s defense and goalkeeper who parried and cleared away all prison wardens attacks.
With their first victory, Blacks Power stay 14th on the log but move level on points with UPDF who occupy 13th with five points.
For they drop to 10th on the log with eight points in their seven games.
