Sadat Anaku and Charles Lwanga netted braces as Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC claimed an emphatic 6-1 win over UPDF FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday evening.

KCCA FC produced one of the most stunning opening 20 minutes seen at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo this season, and arguably one of the best ever – to blow away UPDF FC and give their own title hopes a shot in the arm.

Mike Mutebi’s’ Kasasiro Boys fired four goals before the visitors knew what had hit them, and they were incapable of finding a response.

KCCA started the game on the brightest side and found their first goal just in the 3 minutes when Gift Ali capitalized on Ibrahim Tembo’s loose ball to set up Anaku who controlled the ball and calmly sent it past Yusuf Wasswa into the back of the net.

Ten minutes afterwards, the hosts doubled their lead as Bright Vuuni turned the ball into his own net after wonderful interplay between Samson Kigozi and Moses Aliro for the latter to send in a wonderful cross into the box

The Kasasiro Boys could then get their third of game through Ashraf Mugume who received the ball from Bright Anukani and curled it beyond the reach of the visitors’ goalie into the right-hand corner.

Summer signing, Lwanga then got his name on the scoresheet when he rose high to head in Filbert Obenchan’s cross at the far post in the 22nd minute.

KCCA FC then wasted a couple of chances to extend their lead as Anukani, Anaku and Mugume all missed pinpoint chances to put the ball into the back of the net.

With just four minutes to the halftime break, the Army side pulled a goal back through Brian Kayanja who notched in from an exquisite Mubiru Isa cross from the left.

KCCA were then dealt a blow just before the break when Obenchan was rushed off the pitch after being involved in a head collision with Dennis Kasirye. In his place, Mutebi brought on Sam Kato.

The game went into the halftime break with the hosts holding a comfortable 4-1 lead over UPDF.

With 55 minutes on the clock, Anaku was unlucky not to get his second on the day when his effort rattled the upright after finding space through UPDF’s defense.

But it wasn’t too long until the hosts’ 5th was scored as Lwanga sent in a hard shot from outside the box and somehow found the back of the net with Wasswa so beaten.

After missing a couple of chances, Anaku finally made it six when he ran onto Gift Ali’s cross-field ball to loop it past the onrushing UPDF Wasswa with thirteen minutes left on the clock.

UPDF’s best effort in the second half fell to Alex Kitara when his overhead kick struck the upright.

With today’s emphatic win, KCCA FC moves up to 4th place with 23 points and will play Kyetume next away from home.

While UPDF moves to seventh place on the log with 18 points garnered in 12 games and will play high flying Red Eagles next in Bombo.
