After more than a week with no action, the StarTimes FUFA Big league returned on Thursday evening with seven highly contested fixtures across the Pearl of Africa, three in the Elgon group and four in the Rwenzori group.
Starting off in the Rwenzori group, Proline FC thrashed Nyamityobora FC 4-0 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Noordin Bunjo broke the deadlock for Proline early in the first half before Ivan Ocholit’s brace and Brian Omony sealed off a big victory for Proline.
With the victory, Proline now moves above Nyamityobora on the log with 20 points garnered in 11 games, one above the Mbarara based side.
In Mbarara, Tooro United extended their lead atop the log to six points after they held on to defeat Terrazzo and Tiles 3-2 at the Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara.
Tooro United took the game’s lead through a brilliant strike by Mark Nsubuga but Terrazzo and Tiles levelled matters shortly through Patrick Walligo’s header.
Just before the break, Abdallah Bogere restored Tooro’s lead before Eric Akol extended his team’s lead at the hour-mark. From try spot, Emma Obi pulled a goal back for Terrazzo but Tooro held on to see out the game in the closing exchanges.
Edward Golola’s side now gets to 26 points in 11 games and have now sealed at least a playoff position with three games to spare, while Terrazzo and Tiles are on the brink of relegation as they sit bottom of the log with seven points, 4 above the relegation line.
At the Kavumba Recreation Center, Wakiso, Water garnered a vital win in their bid for survival after they defeated Ndejje University 2-1 to move out of the relegation zone.
Water now sits sixth on the log with 11 points garnered in 11 games, while Ndejje University is a place up in fifth with 12 points.
In Kabale, the home side, Kigezi HomeBoys suffered a 2-1 loss to Luwero United at the Kabale Municipal Stadium.
Abdul Aziz and Ssenyonga Sidney got the important goals for Luwero United in the first half to propel their side to fourth on the log with 14 points.
Kigezi HomeBoys drop to the relegation zone with 11 points garnered in their 11 games thus far this season.
In the Elgon group, Amaku Fred and Solomon Walusimbi were on target as their side, Maroons claimed a 3-0 victory over Calvary FC at the Luzira Prisons Playgrounds.
Amaku netted a brace while Walusimbi added the other as the Prison’s side claimed a win to move out of the relegation zone.
Maroons now sits fifth on the log with 13 points, one point above the relegation line and level with Calvary who are sixth.
At the Emokori Playgrounds, Bukedea, Blacks Power and Gadaffi FC played out to a goalless stalemate in the battle for the second place. A point from the game takes both Blacks Power and Gaddafi to 20 points apiece, three off the Elgon group leaders Arua Hill.
At the Bar Okoro Stadium, bottom-placed Paidha Black Angels drew 1-1 with Kataka FC.
