Stanbic Uganda Cup wrap: Majwega helps URA squeeze past Mbarara, Proline survive elimination by a whisker.

Veteran Brian Majwega was on target for URA FC as they squeezed past Mbarara City to a round of 16 slot while Proline FC survived elimination from this year’s tournament by a whisker after their defeat to MYDA.

Here is a wrap of all the Friday’s action at the respective venues and who made it through to the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

In Njeru, youngster Lawrence Tezikya scored the winning goal for Vipers SC with four minutes to go as they overcame Busoga United 2-1 at the FUFA Technical Center to book their place into the next round after a 5-1 aggregate win.

Yunus Ssentamu had put the Venoms ahead in the first half but the matters were levelled in the 65th minute by Isaac Waigana.

In Mbarara, veteran  Brian Majwega netted the lone goal for URA FC as the tax collectors overcame Mbarara City at the Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara. Majwega’s goal meant that the Tax collectors progressed to the next round , winning double legged tie 1-0.

In Tororo, Proline survived elimination by a whisker after MYDA defeated them 3-1 at the King George IV Memorial Stadium. Proline won the tie 5-4 on aggregate  having secured a 4-1 victory at home on Tuesday evening in the first leg at Lugogo.

Ahmed Saleh, Amos Kirya and Osikol Isaac netted the three goals for the Flying Eagles while Brian Omony netted the all important goal for Proline to help his side seal a round of 16 slot.

In Kampala, Maroons FC thrashed Tiles and Terrazo 6-0 at the Luzira Prisons Playgrounds.

Pius Obuya was involved in four of the six goals as Maroons secured a 7-1 aggregate victory.

Derrick Mudali, Emmanuel Olinga, Obuya, Abraham Tusuubira, Fred Amaku all netted for Maroons FC on the day while the other was an own goal from Martin Ndugga.

The other between Luwero United and Onduparaka FC was not played due to unfavorable weather conditions in Luwero.
