FUFA Big league outfits Kigezi HomeBoys beat Kitara beat Kitara FC 4-2 in the first leg of their Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32 tie on Thursday to take big step towards last 16 of the tournament.
Dickson Niwamanya netted a hatrick while Tabule Rogers added the other to hand the gorillas a deserved first leg advantage.
Kigezi were the better side of the day and deservedly took the lead in the 22nd minute when Niwamanya netted his first that handed his side a first half lead.
Moments after halftime, Niwamanya got his second of the game with a well taken strike before completing his hat trick in the 77th minute.
Just before the death of the game, Tabule netted Kigezi’s fourth and last goal of the game
Agondeze Edison and Kizito Zakayo got the two goals for Kitara FC.
The two side will clash again on Sunday evening in a return leg to be played at the Kabale Municipal Stadium, with the aggregate winner set to verse BUL FC in the Round of 16.
Kitara will need to win by three goals without conceding any in order to progress to next round.
