The Uganda Men’s National Basketball Team, the Silverbacks, have officially announced their 12-man squad for the upcoming second leg of the FIBA Afrobasket Qualifiers, set to take place in Tripoli, Libya, later this month.
A significant boost for the team is the return of Ishmail Wainright, who was absent during the first phase of the qualifiers. His experience and skill set will be crucial in helping Uganda improve its standing in Group B.

Currently, Uganda has secured just one victory from the first round and faces a tough challenge against formidable opponents, including Cape Verde, Nigeria, and hosts Libya.
The Silverbacks squad is composed of a balanced mix of local and foreign-based players, with seven from Uganda’s domestic league and five playing professionally abroad.
This blend of talent is expected to bring versatility and depth to the team.

Preparation for the crucial qualifiers is already in progress with the coaching staff working closely with the local players in training sessions, ensuring they are in top form.
The team is set to relocate to Cairo, Egypt, for an intensive one week training camp before heading to Libya for the three pivotal matches.
