The Easter weekend in Soroti came alive with cricketing excitement, mentorship, and unity as Soroti Cricket Academy (SCA) hosted its annual Alumni Event.
Held at Soroti City Oval and Teso College Aleot grounds, the event brought together alumni and current players for three days of spirited competition and shared purpose.
The matches were played with great intensity and camaraderie.
SCA Alumni opened the event with a solid 58-run win over the SCA Select XI.
The SCA Select Men XI then displayed dominant form with a commanding 101-run victory over the Schools XI.
On the second day, the Alumni beat Light SS by 71 runs, while the Select Men XI defeated Teso College by 90 runs.

The final day featured a tense match between SCA Alumni and Olila High School.

Despite a strong start from Olila during the chase, the Alumni side held on for a narrow 5-run victory in a gripping low-scoring encounter.
The event closed with the President’s XI triumphing over the Chairman’s XI by 51 runs in a celebratory exhibition game.
Beyond the matches, the event focused on inspiring the next generation.
After their match against Light SS, the Alumni gathered with young players to receive motivational talks from the Academy’s founder, leaders, and members of Uganda’s national women’s team, the Victoria Pearls.
The messages emphasized discipline, resilience, and teamwork—on and off the pitch.
A special highlight was the show of support for Light SS and Olila High School, two schools preparing for the national girls’ cricket tournament in Gulu.
Representing the Academy, alumni Kulume Phiona and Iloku Esther presented equipment to Light SS, while Janet Mbabazi and Alako Proscovia handed over gear to Olila High.

The donations included bats, gloves, kit bags, balls, and a helmet, reinforcing SCA’s commitment to nurturing grassroots talent.
The event wrapped up with a joyful cake-cutting ceremony that brought smiles all around and highlighted the unity of the SCA family.
The 2025 Alumni Easter Event proved to be more than a sporting occasion—it was a celebration of growth, mentorship, and the enduring power of community through cricket.
