Uganda Premier League side SC Villa has ushered in a new era with the appointment of Serbian tactician Nemanja Milincic as head coach, replacing Morley Byekwaso. The 37-year-old was officially unveiled on Friday morning through the club’s social media platforms after signing a two-year contract with the Jogoos.
Milincic’s arrival marks a fresh chapter for the club, as they look to build on recent progress and reignite their title ambitions. Speaking during his unveiling, Milincic expressed his excitement and determination to bring success to Uganda’s most decorated football club.

I am honored and thrilled to join SC Villa, a club with such a rich history and dedicated fanbase,” Milincic said. “I am eager to get to work with the players, staff, and management to build a formidable team that will challenge for every trophy available. I know the expectations are high, and I am committed to delivering success and making our supporters proud.”
Milincic arrives with a strong pedigree in modern football. He holds both the UEFA Pro National License and UEFA C License and has accumulated valuable experience at both national and club levels across Europe and the Middle East.

His career highlights include roles as a match analyst for the Serbian national team, Greek giants AEK Athens, Red Star Belgrade, and Saudi Arabian clubs Al Ettifaq and Al Ahli. Between July 2022 and October 2023, Milincic served as the assistant coach of the Bulgarian National Team, a position that added international exposure and deepened his understanding of high-level football management.
Milincic replaces Morley Byekwaso, who had been entrusted with steering the Jogoos through a transitional phase. While Byekwaso’s tenure saw moments of promise, the club’s hierarchy has opted for a fresh approach to match its long-term ambitions of domestic dominance and continental relevance.
The appointment of Milincic is not without precedent. SC Villa has a rich history of Serbian influence, with previous head coaches including Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic, Srdan Zivojnov, and Dusan Stojanovic. Each brought a distinct tactical identity and left a ton of history on the club’s football philosophy.
Milincic now takes up the mantle with expectations high and the fan base hopeful. With his international experience and modern approach to the game, SC Villa faithful will be watching closely as the new coach shapes his team and chases silverware in the seasons ahead.
SC Villa, with its 16 Uganda Premier League titles, remains a symbol of Ugandan football excellence. Under the guidance of Milincic, the Jogoos aim to reclaim their spot at the summit of Ugandan football.
