Preview: Resurgent Mbarara City hosts disarrayed Kyetume FC

Mbarara City FC hosts Kyetume FC on matchday 14 of the Startimes Uganda Premier League today at the Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara.

The contrast between these two clubs goes beyond just a three-point gap on the table. Kyetume is close to disarray – a poor run of results and a new manager on board.

At Mbarara City, symphony reigns and Brian Ssenyondo is bringing the best out of an exciting young team. Ssenyondo says it is far too early to talk about ‘a top-four finish’ but a win would increase those prospects and pile more pressure on Kyetume.

The Slaughterers have conceded 10-goals in their previous two games, 7-goals away to Onduparaka FC and 3-goals home to Wakiso Giants FC and have only managed to score one goal which led to the dismissal of their manager George “Best” Nsimbe in the mid-week.

Jackson Mayanja will be in charge of his first game and we await to see what his return to Uganda promises to bring to the Kyaggwe based side in today’s game.

The Ankole Lions sit in 13th place with 13-points accumulated in thirteen games and pluckily to continue with the winning ways.

Kyetume sits in 9th place with 16-points amassed in thirteen games, 3-points ahead of Mbarara City.

Kyetume will rely on the experience of veteran players in Robert Ssentongo and Vincent Kayizzi to penetrate the Great Wall of Kakyeka whilst the Ankole Lions will lean on the form of their young players in Okwalinga Solomon and forward Ibrahim Oriti who engineered their last home win against Onduparaka FC.
