Premier sprint: Lwakataka clinches FMU season opener

Posiano Lwakataka and Samuel Mugisha from Southern Motor Club (SMC) clinched the seasonal opener premier sprint dubbed ‘kawunyemu’,  the first event on the Federation of Motorsport clubs Uganda (FMU) calendar 2020.

The event took place at Festino Cite in Mukono on Sunday 26th January 2020.

Lwakataka and his co-driver Mugisha beat competition from Ronald Ssebuguzi and his counterpart Anthony Mugambwa by just 51 micro seconds to clinch top spot.

Posiano Lwakataka registered a time of 00:07:18:36 to clinch the top spot ahead of Ronald Ssebuguzi with 00:07:20:24 in the second position.

The Blick brothers of Arthur and Paddy finished third on a time of 00:07:31:12.

Samuel Watendwa and Steven Bunnya finnished 7th in the overal results but managed to clinch the top spot in the two wheel drive (2WD) category with a time of 00:08:41:94 ahead of Sabiiti Muyanja and Edward Kiyinji who finnished 9th on a time of 00:08:46:55 to clinch the second place in the 2WD category.

Robert Kalyesubula and Elvis Nkata finnished in the 16th position registering a time of 00:09:32:31 as the only participants in the Club Rally Championship (CRC) category.

Paddy Blick Jr represented the Buggy category registering a time of 00:09:59:06 to finnish 19th on the overal standings.
