Wakiso giants forward Vianne Ssekajugo was on target as the Uganda Cranes overcame Micho’s Zambia 2-0 in the Ongoing Pre-CHAN mini tournament in Yaounde, Cameroon.
Ssekajungo broke the deadlock in the 25th minutes after Zambian goalie Charles Kalumba spilled Ibrahim Orit’s cross into the forward’s path.
The goalkeeper once again gifted the cranes the second after he turned the ball into his own net trying to recover after Steven Mukwala had dribbled past him.
Johnny McKinstry’s side have now garnered their first win of the tournament having drawn the first game 1-all against the hosts, Cameroon.
Milutin Sredojević commonly known as Micho was facing his former paymasters, having guided Uganda to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations breaking the 39-year wait.
With today’s win, the Cranes get to four points and will return to action on Thursday to take on Niger in their last Pre-CHAN mini tournament game.
On the otherhand, Zambia remain on one point following their 3-3 draw with Niger and will face hosts Cameroon next Thursday.
