It was a thrilling finale in the 2023/24 Pepsi University Football League, as Nkumba University faced off against UCU. The crowd was electric as the two teams took to the field, each determined to emerge victorious.
The game got off to a flying start, with Ssebaduuka Kennedy opening the scoring for Nkumba in the 11th minute after a defensive mistake by Ivan Mutebi.
After UCU goalkeeper Wesonga John Collins being sent off for handling the ball outside his area, Lubega Ismael doubled their lead for Nkumba in the 24th minute from the resultant free kick.
About ten minutes later, it was three for Nkumba as midfielder maestro Musuga Isaac rose highest to head in Ssewakambo John Kennedy’s corner.
At the start of the opening half, Ssewayana Sharif pulled a goal back for UCU, but this wasn’t enough for the Mukono based university.
As the final whistle blew, Nkumba University erupted in joy, celebrating their long-awaited championship win. It had been a 12-year journey since they first joined the league in 2012, and finally, they had reached the top.
The Nkumba University team lifted the trophy, basking in the glory of their hard-won victory. It was a moment that would go down in history, and they savored every second of it.
